In previous articles I wrote a paragraph or so before the Constitution text.
Since you know how this goes let’s jump right in.
Sec. 19. DEPRIVATION OF LIFE, LIBERTY, PROPERTY, ETC. BY DUE COURSE OF LAW. No citizen of this State shall be deprived of life, liberty, property, privileges or immunities, or in any manner disfranchised, except by the due course of the law of the land.
Did Abbott hand out authority to County Judges in Texas with “Stay at Home” mandates?
They called these “Quarantines," but look it up in the dictionary.
A quarantine is defined as:
“a state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to infectious or contagious disease are placed.”
Now I ask you, did the residents in El Paso County, Texas “arrive here from somewhere else” or were they residents of El Paso County, Texas?
Did that Judge offer or even attempt to prove that every single resident had been exposed to an infectious or contagious disease?
So, if the thing they are calling a “quarantine” does not match the definition then what does it match?
Try “House Arrest” the state of being kept as a prisoner in one's own house, rather than in a prison.”
To be fair a lot of counties across Texas used the “stay at home order” but as soon as the definition of quarantine was exposed these “orders” were turned into suggestions.
I have no problem with a stay at home suggestion.
When I see someone driving alone in a car with a face mask, I think to myself, “There is a person I would suggest to stay home.”
The Texas Constitution protects us from “Stay at Home Orders” or at least it did until Abbott broke his oath in 2020.
Outlawing church services and putting innocent people under house arrest do seem to go together.
Then I wonder. "how many Texas governors in the past have done this?" Not many, not even Ma Richards....
What kind of a Republican would make me look back on her term with fond memories?
